A missionary of the World Missions Board of the CBB since October 1988, Carmen Lígia has served in several mission fields: Bolivia (5 years), the Dominican Republic (8 years), Cape Verde (4 years), Colombia (17 years), and, since May 2023, she has been in Panama.
In each mission field, she worked in the planting of new churches, in itinerant ministry strengthening faith communities, in the leadership of social projects directed toward people experiencing homelessness and chemical dependency, in leadership training, in counseling children and adolescents at risk, and in hospital chaplaincy.
Since 2013, she has served as director of the PEPE Program (Early Childhood Education Program) of JMM in the Americas, present in 17 countries and annually reaching more than 9,000 children living in situations of social vulnerability.
